Defendants who reconnoitered a bank, obtained masks, and drove to the bank but abandoned the robbery before entering had taken a substantial step toward attempted robbery; preparation sufficiently corroborative of criminal purpose satisfies the MPC substantial step test even if the defendants voluntarily desisted.
